Internet Security and the Multistakeholder Approach: Is It Attainable?

Internet Security is a topic that has drawn a lot of attention over the past year. As awareness grows that cooperation is necessary, it dawns on people that there are many and very different stakeholders involved, stakeholders that may never have met before. Let alone have cooperated. An example of an approach is the National Cyber Security Council (NCSC) that was installed in The Netherlands on 30 June.

At the Start of the NL IGF

At the annual Dutch "delegation" dinner at the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) in Vilnius, Lithuania, I voiced that it may be a good idea to start a Dutch IGF. This followed a discussion in which we discussed the possibilities of involving more people and organisations from the Netherlands in Internet governance. The, now, Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation followed this thought and made it possible for the ECP/EPN foundation to start the NL IGF.

In the world of Internet governance, the future is now, as regulators want online services to predict and prevent safety threats before they actually occur.

Day 3: Cloud Computing #WS36 #WS58 and #WS154

From a far, I participated in three workshops that addressed the emerging issue of Cloud computing.

The first workshop was entitled Engendering confidence in the cloud-answering the questions of security and privacy, the second workshop on Implications of Cloud Computing and the third workshop on Data in a cloud where do open standards fit in? All of these workshops tackled the issue from technical, business, political and social perspectives.
