The Commonwealth Cybercrime Initiative

The Commonwealth Internet Governance Forum is consulting with stakeholders to gauge the support of a Commonwealth-led Initiative on Cybercrime with a view to seeking endorsement of this from Commonwealth Heads of Government in Australia in October 2011. The development of this initiative is in response to the increasing importance that is attached to cyber security in the face of the Internet’s exponential growth. The CIGF is introducing this initiative at the various regional IGFs in order to seek feedback from the member countries and regions.

Call for Workshop Proposals, Open Forum Proposals for sixth IGF Meeting.

The Internet Governance Forum has published a call for Workshop and Open Forum Proposals for the sixth IGF Meeting taking place in Nairobi, Kenya, on the 27th through to the 30th September 2011. Workshop Proposals
Interested Stakeholders are invited to submit workshop proposals from 27 March through the online form. More information is available through the following link.

The Commonwealth at the IGF 2010 in Vilnius

The IGF in Vilnius saw the Commonwealth participate in a plenary regional session and the more specific Commonwealth Open Forum. The latter launched the Online Child Protection publication which can be downloaded from our Coffee Corner page and there to present it were a selection of our collaborative partners on the project.

Recommendations on the extension of the IGF

The original impetus for the formation of the Internet Governance Forum was to provide not only an open forum for discussion, but also a venue for all stakeholders to collaborate towards developing public policy for the Internet, through a process by which they would "identify emerging issues, bring them to the attention of the relevant bodies and the general public, and, where appropriate, make recommendations."
